The Comprehensive Plan, Climate Element and Easton Subarea Plan were reviewed at a public hearing held by the Kittitas County Planning Commission on March 17, 2026. The Planning Commission voted to recommend approval of the Comprehensive Plan and other documents with several recommended amendments. Please see the meeting minutes for the exact amendments approved by the Planning Commission.  

The Comprehensive Plan, Climate Element, and Easton Subarea Plan are forwarded to the Board of County Commissioners. Another public hearing will be scheduled for the opportunity to provide public comment. Currently, no date is officially confirmed. Meetings are expected to take place in May and June 2026.

​The County is starting the public review process to update development regulations with some revisions to the Critical Areas Ordinance as part of the County’s Comprehensive Plan Periodic Update. These changes are only to comply with recent changes to state law or to address best available science. For more details, please go to the development regulations page. 

The Planning Commission will hold a briefing regarding the development regulations and critical areas of ordinance on April 14th, 2026. No opportunity for public comment will be provided, submit comments in writing. 

The Planning Commission will hold a Public Hearing on the development regulations and critical areas ordinance on May 12th with opportunity for the public to provide comment. The Planning Commission has tentatively scheduled additional time on May 13th for additional public comment or deliberations if extra time is needed.
