On March 26, 2026, Kittitas County is noticing a 30-day public comment period for the draft development regulations changes and proposed changes to the critical areas ordinance as part of the County’s Comprehensive Plan Periodic Update.
The proposed changes focus on addressing recent changes to state law and responding to changes to the goals and policies proposed in the draft Comprehensive Plan. These are some changes proposed to the critical areas ordinance to address recent changes to state law and best available science.
Until April 27th, 2026, the public is invited to provide comments on the draft development regulations changes and the draft critical areas ordinance changes in the following ways:
Option 1: Email your written comments to comments@kittitascounty2026.com. Include your comments in the body of your email rather than as attachments.
Option 2: Mail in or drop off your written comments to Kittitas County Community Development Services at:

Ellensburg, WA 98926
Hours: Monday – Friday 8am to 5pm
Option 3: Verbal Comments will be accepted at the scheduled hearing for the draft development regulations and critical areas ordinance. Visit https://www.co.kittitas.wa.us/ for exact dates, locations, and times of the Planning Commission.
